Just another thing to be aware of, had new tire on rear fitted, don’t let the tire fitter gun off your drive pulley!! They done mine and pulled the threads out!!! Do it yourself and make sure the thread poking out are clean and lubricated before removing them...new hub ordered, not in stock usual Morgan wait again tumbleweed helicoils fitted for now all working ok but tire shop paying for new hub 👍👍

Look on the bright side; the hub with the helicoils is probably now the strongest, most reliable hub yet made for the three wheeler!

I agree about the Helicoils. I've use them for decades and never had one pull out after inserted.

Still get the shop to buy you a new hub, but don't change it until you're in there again, or just keep it for a spare.

Makes me think we need a checklist for “mechanics”:
...
# do not tow - will break gearbox
# deflate front tyres to refit front wheels - else need to remove mudguard
# do not use wheel gunk in front tyres - they use tubes *

* actually I assume gunk is not for tubes - always preferred the change tube option

You can put gunk in tubes I have it mine, the downside is when you replace your front tyres you cannot balance the wheels unless you change the tubes as well.

Good news the tyre shop are paying up for their mistake thumbs

Hopefully you'll never need the replacement.

A good mate of mine is a race engineer for United Autosport and they Helicoil all ali threads from new as they are stripping and re-building all the time.

The Helicoil is stronger than the original aluminium without doubt.
