Chatting with a fellow Morgan owner and we differed on opinion slightly.

Question is, for a brand new dealer stock Morgan when does the warranty start ticking down?

When it leaves the factory, or when it leaves the dealers?

I say the former but stand to be corrected.

Thanks lads.

I thinks its date of registration.

The official Morgan line is -

Your warranty start date is the day the first retail owner takes delivery of the new vehicle or the day its first put into service example given = as a demonstrator, whichever occurs first.

Yep, just checked my warranty details and it states from date of registration, yet dealer told me it was from date of release from factory. Strange.

Hello Kennyh
Your dealer realy said that a (not registratet) car he could not sell for two years is out of waranty? Strange!
But perhaps he offers you a "new" car, he could not sell for a long time, for a very good price... grin2

The car I bought was registered by the dealer in December 2016 but sat in its showroom for 11 months, so MMC agreed to my warranty starting from the date of sale, which the dealer and I set at the date of delivery. In cases like that, it is important to ensure that MMC's original warranty record is wiped.

When you purchase a product from a retailer you have a contract with them. You do not normally have a claim against the manufacturer unless you have been supplied a manufacturers guarantee with the product.

This has been highlighted by a recent Court Ruling that confirmed if you book a travel though a booking site, using a credit card and then have a problem with the hotel or car or whatever, the Credit Card is not jointly liable, in the way it is if you book direct with the service provider.

This is because your contract is with the booking site, not the service provider. Another very good reason NOT to use booking sites for booking, only for price comparisons.

Do you have a link for that? I'd be really interested to read the judgement.
