Showed the OH the Tilley range.
She thought they were more suited to Bill and Ben than to someone of my sartorial standing.
OK the second part isn't exactly what she said, but you get the drift.
Looks like my recently purchased Stetson cap will have to do.

I read with interest all of the positive comments about Tilley hats, so went to have a look at our local stockists. (Cotswold Outdoor at Darts Farm Shop) Beautifully made - agree. Totally functional - agree. But mainly worn locally by hikers on the coast path, or bird watchers enjoying the Exe Estuary. Fine people all, I’m sure; but not a look that I wish to adopt. We have four Tilleys between us and MrsW does wear one in the Morgan when its hot, but I prefer a baseball cap..............

Bless! I hate to break it to you dedicated followers of fashion, but to the rest of the world we look like a bunch of mad old buffers anyway, our choice of headgear is not going to make anyone go from "Look at those daft old sods in their weird old jalopies" to "Gosh, what handsome debonaire and dashing young blades! I must make their acquaintance immediately!" Just joking guys, we should of course wear whatever we like and for whatever reason

So bought a Tilley T3 yesterday. I'm hoping I look more Ray Mears than Worzel Gummage but I suspect I am kidding myself :-)
