My 2013 car is now stuttering. It is doing so quite a lot and quite violently on occasions so I am looking for any suggestions as to what may be wrong and more importantly if there is anything I can do to help. I have changed the spark plugs and it ran better for a while but it is back. I have adjusted the HT leads and it improved but it is back. Any suggestions? Just to add to the inconvenience I am in rural Italy on a tour.
Thanks,
Richard

Fuel pumps seem to be a common fault at the moment. Do you have the original one fitted? Not that it will be a big help to you in rural Italy but the fuel pressure should be 58 psi at the injector test point on the RH injector. That said, it does sound to be more ignition related though as attention to those things have improved the situation. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Sorry to hear of your problem especially in mid holiday - here is the well respected Morgan dealership in Milan who is known to go the extra mile and knows members of TM and I have included a link to the rest of the European one's as well. Good Luck. https://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/dealer/borghi-automobili-sas/https://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/dealerships/It does sound as if a new set of leads could be a good first port of call with the symptoms you describe.

Don’t suppose you had just filled it up? Or parked it on a slope (we did that the other day and the engine was spluttering for a while afterwards but then was ok)?

A couple of thoughts Check that the plug leads are well seated at the "non plug" end under the cowl. I have had a sudden engine stop as both had come off at the same instant!! Now zip tied on
And, remove and check the length of the leads for split/cuts especially where they go under the cowl.
good luck

I had a BMW bike let me down abroad once - It proved to be HT leads corroded at the end opposite to the plugs. Yours stuttering like this sounds similar fault. Chech all leads especially connections.

Double check that the spark plug terminals haven't unscrewed themselves. This is very common on the M3W and causes various misfire symptoms. Use a dab of loctite to hold them in position.

Might sound daft, but press the inertia cut off switch
Bumpy Italian roads may be jiggling it. Nothing lost if it’s not the problem
Good luck Ric, I’m enjoying your FB posts

Thanks for all the help people. Indeed, the spark plug terminals were loose. I tightened them as best I can and had a much better run down to Sorrento today. Not perfect but much better. I think I’ll have to check each morning when the engine is cool. Illl have to add locktite to the spares list. Thanks bunny! I’m enjoying the trip and am now as far as Sorrento. Amalfi coast in the morning so I’m looking forward to that. Lots of photos etc on https://rh03mog.com/2018-sardinia/Thanks again. I knew talkmorgan would come up with the answer. Richard

This is not uncommon, although quite how a multi-turn, fine-threaded terminal can unscrew in situ to the point that the connectivity is lost is beyond me. The power of MASSIVE vibrations eh?!
Glad you found it.
