That'll be a good job done for 20 notes plus the satisfaction of doing it yourself, it's easier but pretty soulless just buying alternatives.

As an alternative what about an anodised finish in the colour of your choice.

Phil Ledgerwood offered chromed posts a few years ago, but said that the quality wasn't good enough so he stopped doing them.
The current coating on new Morgan seems resiliant, but don't use any sort of polish or it will shine the surface and become patchy.
My 2005 has a coating which is best described as thinned grey hammerite. I doubt it was a diy job in the first three years, so is probably factory.

Can’t help thinking that there is electrolytic corrosion going on owing to the screw material combination. If the screws are standard metric machine screws there are reasonable strength 7075 ali ones available?

I gather from enquiries that chrome plating aluminium isn't easy and a base application of copper first is essential. I suspect your 2005 is the same as mine although I was convinced it was powder coat of some form. Having stripped it I think it's paint. How well it lasts is a matter of pot luck. I don't remember when I first noticed an issue but it was a long time ago. It wasn't addressed as I was using the car to get to work and I thought the comercial solutions too expensive.

There certainly was evidence of that but I think the greater issue is water/brine getting it at any point where the surface finish is chipped or cracked. As was said earlier the fixing locations are prime candidates for that. Our Kenwood mixer suffers the same problem.

Screenwash leaves streak marks on mine & the finish is not that good.

Unfortunately the efficacy of most of them will depend on how well the job is done which could lead to unwarranted bias. I find it interesting that my petrol cap is just bare polished aluminium and while it does corode it doesn't take a great deal of effort to keep it reasonable. I did think about just doing that but chickened out.

The stuff on my Roadster is paint and I suspect it was applied after paint. The masking is average, but after 13 years it remains intact. I've had the screws out and Coppaslipped them, which probably helps.
