I don't think the change to the Aero chassis will deter many potential new customers, in fact it may attract them. The number of those willing to grease their own trunnions is ever diminishing. On the other hand, for an entry level product, the much higher price of the Aero based cars would concern me.

I'll believe it when I hear an announcement from MMC. If they can get an Aero chassis car down to an entry level price of <£50k then good luck to them, but if they can't they'll be losing a fair segment of their market, 4/4s and +4s outsell the bigger stuff by a massive margin.
I would imagine that when someone does to buy a Morgan, they go for the best they can afford - which if true implies that there are plenty of existing purchasers who simply can't afford the likes of Roadsters and Aeros
Unless they are looking to cut production, this seems a bit premature.

I think it is almost inevitable that the move to an Aero chassis will happen. Legislation will guide this need. Also, non ICE cars are on the up and perhaps an EV (or fuel cell) , Morgan could need a ground up redesign as opposed to shoehorning bits into the ladder chassis. If the sole aim of MMC is profit then a move to the better profit generators is tempting and likely. Convincing current generations to buy before other makes is another matter! Losing the volume of 4/4 and +4 is a major change as is the costing for Aero chassis models. A partial increase in chassis purchases should lead to reduced unit cost but.....how much? Lower cost Morgans as entry for a wider price conscious buyer is a potential minefield.

So, it looks like the new entry level model might be the £55K 3 Wheeler?

The news story is here on the morgan experience forum and the editor is very well linked to gomog a well read technical reference for trad morgan owners GoMog is indeed a very valuable technical resource. However, the owner's record on contemporary Morgan matters has not always been so reliable. The previous forum, Mogwire, was heavily tainted by an undisguised personal antipathy towards MMC and closed abruptly a few years ago. I hadn't realised there had been an attempt to resurrect the forum but based on previous experience I will treat anything reported there with suitable scepticism. ~iw

I'll just wait and see what the MMC has to say - it could well be the French agent trying to drum up a bit of trade or even fake news. Gomog is a great resource but a lot of mixed history for those that have followed it, Lorne upset a few people. It's a good way to stir the Classic owners up if they allow themselves to be . A bit like hearing the results of a blood test from the bakers as far as I'm concerned . Pure speculative rubbish. p.s. Have you heard about the new radial engined Aero ..
