To be fair internally a Morgan passenger room is positively tardis like compared to the new mx5

To be fair internally a Morgan passenger room is positively tardis like compared to the new mx5 Know where you are coming from. The F type is a reverse Tardis - enormous on the outside and tiny inside.

And talking about big cars, I had the miss fortune to have to follow a new MB SL500 AMG on Saturday and boy is that a lard arse.
I couldn't see a thing past it and it still only has two seats. Morgans are amazing in the amount of interior room once you get in them.
Here for a good time not a long time!!

if thierry is correct, I will be trying to sell my other kidney.. But Rylan, this is what you already have (narrow body, 2.0l engine)? And your 2.0l is the proven, tuneable Duratec. Why would you change?

I wouldn'want to see the trads increase in size. I feel that cars are unnecessarily big as it is. Bloated in my opinion..just look at how sylph like some used to be. Jaguars for example. And MX5s. True, but at least the current MX5 is both smaller (external dimensions) and lighter than the model it replaced. Well done Mazda for going against the bloating trend.

If MMC invested a little to address the proper lubrication of the sliding pillar the trad might make the 2200s Lancia used sealed pillar lubrication in the 1920s.  . The Lancia system is very similar in some respects to the Morgan. It was renowned for good handling and comfort (for its day) and was used by Lancia from about 1922 into the 50s. The Lancia system is a true sliding pillar system where the stub axle is fixed to the kingpin and the assembly slides up and down within the bushes which are fixed in the upper and lower parts of the crosshead. The enclosed tubes above and below the crosshead are to accommodate the the movement of the sliding kingpin ("pillar"). The Morgan system on the other hand uses a sliding stub axle on a fixed kingpin. Even though it is refered to as a sliding pillar suspension it is not the pillar that slides. Perhaps it should more correctly be called a sliding stub axle system but is also referred to as an "inverted silding pillar" system.

Just another journalist's faux pas Peter, along with the muppet that suggested Morgans had a wood chassis - typical journo, couldn't tell the difference between a chassis and a body frame...

I have a GDI Plus 4 Stuart, I wanted a NB+4 but couldn’t move quick enough when bumble appeared, they are rare so ended up compromising slightly!, may get one (or an aero if I win the lottery) eventually! I have always preferred the look of the NB+4, just find the front of the +4 a bit stretched out, certainly wouldn't say no to modern suspension all round, just dread what the cost will be! if thierry is correct, I will be trying to sell my other kidney..
