I currently use a mallet/wood. I have seen a tool that fits over 3 eared spinners on a COBRA website. Does anyone know of one for a 2 winged spinner?
The type that fits over it and uses a long bar to a central square hole as per sockets?
I'd much prefer one to the mallet!

Oldtimer Tools have tools for three-eared, two-eared and octogonal centre nuts.

When I had the octagonal 'no eared, no spinner' variety, I used both a Ledgerwood tool and also the part that MWS make.
I'm currently switching over to two eared spinners and the plan is to go with a mallet( either hide/hide/ or hide/copper)

If you want to be spoiled for choice, see:

Yes, these tools are expensive, but a misplaced hammer blow could cost even more. Anyway, I am very happy with the tool for the octogonal nuts. To cut costs, I got the long wrench elsewhere.

I just bolted a 3 ft. square tube on the original octagonal spanner. Costs: nil. - Eared spinners are illegal over here anyway.

You can also buy the spanner for the round wheel nuts at:
http://www.simmondsshop.com/wheel-spanner-290-p.asp
for GB pounds 43.43

If you are doing nothing, how do you know when you are finished?

With the Roadsters Deep Set Spinners it is even more difficult to use a mallet. The Propeller wooden over spanner sits too deeply as well.

I had an idea, but not enough knowledge or tools to try it out.

Having a basket of old Lignum Vitae Bowling Balls, is the substance too hard to work (ie cut in half and mill out the shape of the spinner head.) ???

Having milled out the shape, would it be durable enough, even with a steel bar attached across its top to provide leverage ???
