I will go for a stage 1 upgrade once the sunshine has stopped - does it make much difference whether it is an MMC, Krazy Horse or Garage 56 ?

I will go down the MMC route in order to protect my warranty.

I have the MMC and ordered it that way from the factory. No issue with it so would say it is good to go. It is a touch too loud at times so if it was easier I would have preferred to compare to the garage guys to hear how it sounded.

If Morgan would have made this all easier I would definitely have ordered the care with stage 2

In terms of freeing up the exhaust flow no; the differences are in essence cosmetic and sound.

There are probably small performance differences between the 3 but for general driving I would doubt you'll be able to notice the difference.

As it's a quick upgrade, I'd get it done whilst the sun is shining to make the most of it......

Tuning:
- KH include a dyno run to tune the ECU it seems whereas the others don't

Cosmetically:
- size: the G56 one seems the widest
- heat shield colour: I know the G56 is custom and chrome, but do the MMC and KH ones use the original?

And of course price varies too...

I went the MMC route and organised / paid for my own tune up.
I would be interested what parameters Krazy Horse changed - Matts Machine Shop who tuned mine ended up with it most parameters wide open - do we know if KH do same ?

I have just had the MMC (AR Motorsport) Stage 1 kit fitted and it has made the engine a lot more tractable and is definitely much nicer to drive. That’s the good news. The cloud in the silver lining (although some may see it the other way around!) is that it really is very loud. At steady revs (when not accelerating or decelerating) I think it is actually quieter than before but when you come off the gas or go on it, it makes a huge amount of noise. Coming off, there’s lots of snap, crackle and pop (generally good), going on it’s ear splitting (not so good). On the drive back from the dealer, I set off the alarm of a car parked on the side of the road at one point! It is quite fun, driving through Oxford, to slip the car into neutral and blip the throttle and see people jump on the pavement. If you’re of the hooligan tendency, you’d love it, I think. I suspect I will get used to it (and I do really like how much easier it is driving around at slower speeds, in particular) but have told my dealer to hang on to my old pipes just in case I decide at some point that I want to reverse it to what it was. The upcoming Grindelwald trip will be a long test run of the kit. The G56 pipes are a bit (a lot?) quieter, I believe, and I would have gone with those if MMC had not said that any Stage 1 kit rather than their own would invalidate the engine warranty.

There’ll be plenty of G56 pipes to hear, see and maybe try at Treffen this year, so that should answer any questions. I went for G56 as I felt they had the best engineered solution and the best customer service by a mile.

I suspect I will go G56 but it sounds like all 3 options are a positive move in terms of drivability. I have some strange fishtail exhausts on my car that I haven't seen on any other M3W before which I would like to keep, so will need to see which systems can also accommodate these.
