Hi Everyone,

Whilst at the local tip today getting rid of bags of garden stuff I noticed in the adjacent skip a load of close cell neoprene strips of varying lengths and thicknesses awaiting delivery to the landfill site.

Lots of piccies of DaveW projects floated past my eyes!

The tip does not allow removal of anything so no point asking. So, the question is....... what would you have done????

Regards

Geof

I found a perfectly good bike in the skip once, had a word with one of the guys, £10 changed hands and he told me to pick it up outside the gates of the facility on my way out. That was about 10 years ago and I still ride it around the town, I never bother to lock it, just prop it up at the kerb, 'cause it cost me next to nothing, so I don't see the value in it. (Odd thinking really!)

Make an offer to the person. I don’t know if the “recycling centre” rules would allow it though! It is Council run and “Rules is rules”.

Helped myself. Depending on the location of the attendants either back pocket money might change hands or simply squirrel it away.

Came home from the tip a few years ago with a set of decent dining room chairs. Still got them - used as back ups when we have large numbers in the house.

And as for boatyard skips - well they are by way of being a pick and choose shop.

Scrap neoprene? Scrap aluminium? Scrap ash offcuts?

Sweet dreams are made of these.......

I’m impressed you identified it as closed cell neoprene

Following recent posts on TM , there are likely to be lots of Morgan owners with garages full of spare neoprene and nothing useful to do with it.

Howard mentioned boat yard skips, well I have "access" to loads of them and they are a great hunting ground for bits and pieces especially nice bits of teak and the occasional shinny thing.

Here for a good time not a long time!!
