If this is the car think it is, no money has been spared on it. I have been told that the acceleration cop is like a +8.

Morgan also can supply a modified gear ratio.

There is a very good thread on Talk Morgan about the gearing - I will try to look it out.

Should be for that money! Would rather have a new 4/4 Sport and pocket the £5k change, thanks! Also:

FWIW I think it looks great in grey/tan.

Thanks for the information Steve, I used to run a company Ford Orion with the same block and head as this model (unblown of course). It was an E prefix and went fairly well for a tintop unfortunately at 140,000 mls in 3yrs (mostly motorway) it refused to start one morning. Upon further investigation all cylinders were significantly down on compression, the reason given these engines were not designed for unleaded fuel !!
Net result a new Ford engine. I therefore would be very reluctant to reaquaint myself with this particular power unit let alone blown version. I'm sure many people have had better experiences of it however. waiting

Perhaps, Graham, but a friend of mine had one of these and it was nothing but trouble -- great engine and the rest a disaster!!!

I'd go with much of what has been said. What struck me about the original link was that very little was said about what- if anything- had been done in terms of uprating the bottom end and anything below the head eg had the pistons been uporated? was the crank forged or OEM? Had better quality pistons been fitted? What about baklanced/ lightened flywheel? In a simlar vein, when it came to the valve gear, wa it running orignal cams or something upgraded ( eg Newmans)

It strikes me that all too often people don't remember that it isn't just a matter of a different head, injection system etc- god quality engine building needs to start from the bottom up and if it doesn't then there will cme a time when, surprise, surprise, it all blows up

I know I might be going down the 'over-engineering' route here ( eg I'm often being told that a Zetec should handle 200BHP without any bottom end modification) but to my mind, if you're gonna do it, do it properly.

It would seem to be correct but not very pretty really is it ?

If money was no object the link below would be the one toy for me, these are a good build not quite as good as the continuation numbered Swiss ones though. flag

I know it's a Fix Or Repair Daily but it ticks all the boxes for me, I used to watch Jordan (recently passed away I believe) as in millers/muslie bars heir race one of these at Snetterton regularly and I can still hear that exhaust note. It seemed the twin pipes were about 3.5 to 4 inch diameter at the time in 1970. His was the real thing not a recreation though. I was easily impressed at 20 maybe.

Yes I concur with most of your thoughts on this blown 4/4 and "hot" small capacity engines in general. Personally I would start with brakes, suspension and tyres as the first steps toward any half serious tuning. I don't recall any mention of brakes or suspension modifications in the advert other than SPAX's fitted, I would hazard a guess by the picture that oversize tyres or wheels have been installed. In summation without a lot further information in the advertisement of a serious nature about that car I wouldn't even waste a phone call on it. As has been mentioned earlier it is a decent amount of cash to hand over for a G Reg 4/4 and that is fact. stirpot
