I've forgotten how you tell when there's enough grease in the top point. Anyone? When you start slippin’ and slidin’ on your garage floor It’s a good point as it’s difficult to see, I just do a couple of squirts each time I grease and hope it’s OK I think the thing to remember is that if you do it every 300-500 miles, I don’t think you can go too far wrong I just make sure if excess is coming out that it’s not going to get on the brakes so I just use a bit of rag or card to wipe off

I jack mine up remove the front wheels.
Clean out the old grease and grime from the nooks and crannies then fill with new grease ensuring it herniates out of the voids and clean off any excess, I then clean the discs with brake cleaner to make sure the discs aren't contaminated.
Gives me a chance to inspect the assembly for any other issues.

I expect it's down my trouser leg instead, I'll have a look.

There is a theory from a very experienced long time Mog owner and friend that a oil instead of grease is better going in from the top as it runs down but I don’t know exactly how or what he uses This current Mog is the first time I’ve had a nipple on the top

My 4/4 only has lower grease nipples.

As I have posted in the past, it is also a good idea to take weight of the front suspension by jacking the car up, it helps the grease flow better. It is for this reason I don’t use the remote greasing kit.

Well having pumped in lots at the top yesterday I took the wheels off this morning and found that lots has come out at the very bottom, where there's another seal. this must be what's fed down the channel in the kingpin. result!
Except that I have had to clean lots of grease off the wheels.
