Hello all,
I have two open question about the Plus4 GDI ECU:
- if it's not a factory secret punished by deed :-) is there someone that knows whitch type of ECU brand and model is factory fit in the GDI, I strongly think it's a "MBE 9A6" can someone confirm please ?
- did nobody already try to use a "Delta GDI 4" ECU on his Morgan GDI ?
Delta ECU claim 195 HP on the same unmodified Ford GDI that sit in the Plus4 and they have provided the ECU to Zenos (same unmodified engine and 200 HP)...
If I was not based in Belgium I would already try a win-win deal with them: I pay the ECU and provide the Morgan, they Implement the wiring interconnect and the optimization with the sort exhaust so they can afterword sell a 200 HP ECU kit for Morgan Plus4 GDI
Who knows, they may be interested...

The GDI ECU is bespoke to Morgan. It's similar to the 9A6 (it shares the case) but with different input/output pins and more limited functionality

Hi Simon,
Is it using the same CANBUS that the 9A6, meaning do you need the MBE985 to "discuss" with it ? Will it work ?

The ECU is locked and only Morgan have access, hence the Clubsport remap is only being done at the factory

Yes, that does sound interesting however, in the real world of traffic, speed cameras, speed bumps etc do we really need to go any faster in our cars. I am quite happy to be nicked for doing 100mph, I don't see any point in paying to get done for going faster. I sound like a right old git I know !!

Not so much about speed but acceleration in my opinion. Anything over 100 mph is scary in a Morgan 😳.
I don’t pretend to know anything about the workings of an ECU. All I know is that you can buy off the shelf ones to fit to say a 2 litre Duratec in a kit car and as well as run the engine it also provides feeds to instruments etc. I have no idea why you can’t just strip the ECU out of a Morgan and replace it with a new one. Ok, you might hit snags with immobilisers for example but nothing that can’t be worked around. Or am I being rather simplistic?
