I was measuring up to make a custom tool tray today, and got tired of propping up the hood with my shoulder as I lent over the side into the parcel shelf. So 30 mins later I had a stay made.
It drops into a locking pin hole and just pushes on the hood frame as you can see in the photo. I could have made it to slot over the hood pin, but I just wanted something simple that was capped at both ends so it did not become a spiders home.

1 length of PVC Electrical conduit I had lying around 720 long OD 27 ID 2mm, 2 inside end caps, a gloss black aerosol and a cigarette lighter.
I used the fag lighter to heat the tube and put the bends in, then sprayed it black, waited 20 mins for the paint to dry, bashed in the end caps and it was job done.
If you fancy knocking one up, I would recommend a gas torch on a low flame as it was difficult to get even heat on the bend with the fag lighter, and fill it with sand first so you get less deformation when bending it. ( I had no sand and my gas torch would not light). One last tip pull up gently as you bend, it saves the inside of the curve from crinkling.
Cheers John

Sheer genius John. I'll pinch that idea if I may.

May I ask what all that strapping is over the seats?

the straps just hold a sheepskin cover over the passengers seat and pump up lumber support in a sheepskin cover on the drivers seat, as I could not seem to get it in properly behind the squab on the drivers seat. 😄

That ID of 2mm is obviously wrong but the edit function has gone. The OD of 27mm is correct though

Brilliant John.....

I use a long octopus strap from the rear hood spring to the front bonnet catch. That strap doubles as additional luggage restraint if needed.
