Richard,
I have the 'single mass' flywheel, which I assume is lighter

Apologies for pulling up this old thread but a recent query today got me thinking again about the throttle lag issue with this engine, which mainly affects upward gear changing.

Re-read replies on this US forum thread I had previously bookmarked re disgruntled 3.7 Mustang owners, but one post in particular on page 2 caught my attention. In essence the owner replaced the clutch fluid line(s) with braided which he claims cured the lag issue as well as changing the clutch take up point. He found restrictors in the OE lines!

Anyone care to comment

Richard, I think 'ours' already have braided hoses & the only thing I found in the line was a small pressure switch which I assumed was to stop accidental start-up without depressing the clutch

Thanks for reply Jon. Its not unusual for restrictors or valves in the clutch fluid line to delay clutch take up, our old Shogun had one. Ideally it should delay only take up not release hence the use of valves (CDV's). This gives smoother take up if the clutch is accidentally innocent dumped although it also serves to smooth an otherwise a sharp clutch. Thought it worth mentioning in case there was one hidden away somewhere although can't imagine MMC adopting such.

Yes after I'd made the post I recalled MMC using braided hoses although that's probably not the issue.

Not sure if its unique to my car but if I slip clutch on standing start with a few revs on I get noticeable clutch judder. This is more pronounced with a start in second as recommended by MMC.

Hmm. I've never experienced clutch judder, Richard. That does sound suspicious.
