My running boards have been covered with a protective film which has become scuffed by shoes when getting out of the car. I have tried using polish to minimise the marks without success, any suggestions what may help.

Thanks

Meguiars Plastx.

Works for me with all but the most stubborn of scuffs.

Hi,

I think Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) is what you need.

Try local chemists (although mine looked rather oddly at me when trying to buy). But it is readily available on Amazon and Ebay.

Hope this helps.

I know eventually I will need to replace the film but was hoping to find a interim fix.

I have tried rubbing alcohol without any success

Will check out the Meguiars Plastx

Thanks

The Tcut idea is interesting, I will try that to see how it compares.

I'm nearing the end of my fourth summer using the Meguiars and there is only one deep gouge that it hasn't fettled. I'm sure that eventually I will get down to the paintwork after constant rubbing but hopefully that will be a good few years off.

Riverstar, just replace it, it’s far easier. I’ve replaced the PPF to my running boards twice this year already.

I keep the templates and cut new pieces from a larger sheet. Spray plenty of water mixed with a tinty drop of baby shampoo (I mean tiny) and aplply the film with rubber squeegee (car window tinting tool) and wipe clean with a microfibre cloth..

I’m happy to help, I don’t think we are too far away from each other

Craig

- would you mind providing some detail re. what type of PPF you use and a good supplier for same cheers

I need to replace some of mine on the Aero and some of the prices quoted are on the silly side...
