I found my 4/4 Sport (1600cc) is giving a surprisingly good mileage. So far I did on average 54 mpg (Imperial gal) respectively 45 mpg (US gal).
I have the habit to fill the tank to the brim before I take off for a longer trip. So the calculation should be quite accurate.

Plus 8? 23 mpg. Did get over 35mpg on a long motorway cruise, but who the hell wants to do that in a Mog?
The higher the fuel consumption the more fun I had. When you add it up over the year it's peanuts.
Anyway, I've got a diesel box for mpg

Exactly the same (40.38) with my duratec +4 2l over a distance of last 3000 miles.

I was amazed to get just short of 50mpg in my 4/4 duratec during a week in the Lakes. This included 'brisk' 4hr drives up and back down the motorway to get there.
Have had 34mpg with very 'serious' use. The gearing is quite high which makes it quite long legged.

I'm with flowman - diesel tin top for the mpg. I've only managed to average 33 for my 4/4 1.8 zetec over the 9 years since new.
