Do you mean there have been issues after the repair had been done, if so what are the issues,also as far as i am aware MMC is not calling this a repair but an "upgrade " ? Sorry Hugo I meant to say no issues since the repair and have edited my post accordingly.

Just checked my 2012 car ( thanks must go to Planenut who spotted it) and found a crack starting on the offside lower wishbone joint, lets see how the factory deals with this, i don't want a repair to my chassis especially if there are no guarantees the fix will work.  These 5 have done over 2000 miles each with no issues since, which is what you expect. There are others as well with fewer miles since the repair. Wow, lucky this was spotted

Hugo:- You state that you do not want a repair to your chassis, particularly if MMC are not prepared to offer any guarantee for the repair.
My car was one of the other 5 cars found to have a crack in the same position as yours and I felt exactly the same, but had no other option but to accept their repair.
Although MMC did not charge for the actual repair, we had to find a way of getting our cars to the factory at our expense. MMC specifically stated that they should not be driven.
Even if we (and yourself) had a new chassis fitted, I still do not believe that MMC would guarantee it against future cracking.
I just wonder how many M3Ws are being driven around with cracks that are going un-noticed, and how long it will be before a nasty accident occurs because of this problem.

Just to be clear, in the initial post, the new design mount was pictured by Rob G. At first, I interpreted this as being a design on newer chassis as well. Checking my 2016, however, and seeing CBM’s photo, it appears the mount used for repair is not on newer models. I assume it is a retrofit placed for repairs. Our newer models appear to have a similar design as the “older” vehicles.

The 2014 and later type chassis does have a similar design to the older (2012 and 2013) cars but there have been no known occurrences of this type of cracking on the 2014 type chassis. It's still worth checking newer cars in this area though.

KBMOG, You raise some interesting and concerning issues. I am also surprised at what appears to be very different consumer law in our jurisdictions

As per the previous post I have often wondered about MMC's insistence that the vehicle should be returned to the factory for warranty work, at the expense of the owner (or I guess the dealer if they can be persuaded).
Given that the car is not "fit for purpose", surely consumer protection law states that it is down to the seller to accept all costs associated with getting the product back to a saleable condition?
Which then leads me on to the compensator debacle. Surely the compensator should be replaced with the newest available design at no cost to the owner, which doesn't seem to be happening now?
Is this sharp practice or is consumer law being applied, but with no goodwill element?

The new mount certainly looks better than the old one. The front element of mIne (2016) failed at the bushing sleeve (shown in your bottom photo) recently - a clean break. I am waiting for MMC to complete its examination to see what caused it.  Pleased that you are back on the road and that you spotted the crack before it caused a complete failure. Am I right to assume that your 3W is a 2016 and the failure was a result of an accident ? Or did it just break?

The thread on this incident seems to suggest that the wishbone failed and that caused an accident, not the other way round.
