As a relative ‘newbie’ to morganeering, I’m a bit hesitant to reply, but could it be your Morgan was not yet at it’s best?

Mine is a year old now and it took me some time to get used to it, trusted it enough to drive it sporty and the engine and car as a whole seemed to have loosened up a bit.

I had a few minor things, rather heavy steering, some unbalance in the wheels, a rear suspension that seemed to bottom-out rather quick.

After I collected the car from the first annual service, all these niggles had been sorted out perfectly. Lighter steering, smooth ride, the whole car feels more balanced. I already liked the car a lot, but appartly there is a lot that a skilled mechanic can do to improve the car. Transform it, I would almost say...

Needless to say I’m very happy with it now.

I can imagine that these niggles can turn people off when they are new to the brand and used to cars that work perfectly straight from the dealers.

What a decent bunch you all are. I expected to hung, drawn and quartered ! I think I am , (maybe all of us) are slightly mad. When I bought it I thought, sh*t, what have I done ? When I sold it, I thought exactly the same.

Ironically Williams rang me this morning to ask if I still had the overriders I replaced for the front valance, as typically he had a potential buyer for the car due to rare colour but he wanted the traditional look not the sporty look. I had sold them on ebay so hard luck. He also told me he had had a lot of owners ringing him for a price on their vehicles. When I asked what is a lot, he said ten to fifteen a week over the last few weeks. But only successfully buying at a trade price about three a week. It seems it’s his market and can pick and choose. Interesting times.

Morgan's are definitely marmite, my car's previous owner was similar to you - sold after 8 months but only 800 miles. As mentioned with 6000 covered you definitely gave it a try. Interesting you only took a £5k hit, the dealer will need to sell at close to list price to make a profit and there is a risk the car will stick on the forecourt a long time looking at some of the ads in AutoTrader and the like.

Johncc, I took that hit on the chin, it’s being sold for more than I paid for it when I bought it. Approx 7k mark up on car now. They will sell it to I reckon. Easy sale to the trade though, money there next day and picked up on trailer and gone in 48 hrs.

I agree, although it does smart at times. The mark up they have on it has to pay for them being there & making a living. By the time new buyers have squeezed a deal, and having to provide back up if anything goes wrong, it's not excessive and I like the fact that Morgan dealers in particular, very often spend money on hosting events etc.

The easy deal is indeed very often the best way.

No trailer for me.....I’m driving Nero down to Williams on Thursday. I owe it that and Williams.....I’ve dealt with them for a long time. Just hoping I’m not going to be weak willed and try their Super Sport 😳🙄

Jays, give the P4SS a try and a test drive. Sometimes I get annoyed that I sold mine, even though I love my 4/4 more than anything.
You already know the single throttle valves, so the sound won't surprise you as too loud, but will awaken positive feelings.
