So driving back from Angouleme we hit the UK in monsoon like conditions. The car fared well with a few drips here and there so the neoprene is holding up. But I got a wet right leg.

Looking yesterday with a light in the footwell and a dark garage, the only gap left is the hole where the accelerator cable goes through the bulkhead. I'm wondering if there are any good ideas for covering this? I'm thinking of a rubber boot but it's quite small. And there's the issue ofnhow to get it on there. This is a 2012 plus 4 by the way.

I had a problem with water coming through the gap in the bulkhead around the harness that goes to the ECU (which is in the passenger side footwell to the left of the glovebox in my car). I used black silicone sealant designed for gutters. Four years and no recurring water ingress so far.

I had a similar problem, tried everything, still leaked badly in monsoon rain. Answer was the hole where the heater control cable goes through the bulkhead. You cant easily see it so you cant tell if its leaking. You'll find it under the bonnet as it goes into the heater box, directly in line with the control knob.Just put plenty of sealant around it. Problem solved completely.

The issue I face is that the accelerator cable sheath ends on a bracket on the engine side if the bulkhead. The cable itself then goes through a hole in the bulkhead which is quite large and unprotected. But if course the cable needs to move in and out. So sealant will not be suitable. Hence the thought about a boot

this is my simple solution on 2009 +4 Duratec. Any waterproof does + 2 cable ties.



The quite large hole lets water, dust, heat and noise in. Strange the factory does not take care for such simple issues.
