Tragic news Ian, what a loss.
Gerald was such a lovely man & a great character to be around. He’ll be sadly missed by all & we’ll certainly raise a glass tonight in his honour.

Our thoughts are with you, Maria and Ian. Have not known Gerald for long but knew him to be quiet, kind and gentle - fine qualities in a man who will be missed by all who knew him. I know that you will pass on everyone's good wishes to his family and thank you for doing so.
Phil and Claire.

Although I didn't know the gentleman concerned, I find this very sad news.

I met Gerald only once - at Bicester this year - and he was most kind and encouraging to an excited ‘newbie.’ He gave me a note with his details and suggested a meet-up which we never got around to.

He was indeed gentle. My sympathies to those who knew him well.

Dear TM'ers,
One week on from the sad loss of a man who was clearly a dear friend to us all. Gerald was born on 10th October 1949 so today would have been his birthday. 69 would not be classed as being old by any means and we looked forward to celebrating it with him. So sad it was not to be.
When Gerald died so tragically last week Maria sent a condolences card to his family from us and she also sent one we signed from "his TM and M3W friends" The MTWC also sent one to his family
We are in regular contact with his daughter who thanks everyone for their condolences at this difficult time.
An Autopsy on Gerald has taken place and it appears he died as a result of a heart attack and probably knew nothing after that.
The coroners verdict on the ensuing clip with the lorry before coming to rest on the hard shoulder is due this afternoon.
At the moment Geralds funeral will take place w/c 22nd October with Tuesday 23d being the likely date. This is still subject to confirmation from his family. Which we will of course pass on as soon as we know.

If you get a chance today, please give a moments thought or even raise a glass to our friend Gerald.

Ian and Maria
