I've just joined the forum today and I'm looking to buy a Morgan in the (very) near future. I did own a 4/4 runabout last year but sold it to finance another car ( bad move !) - I have a few other cars ( classic and modern ) and I'm presently considering a new (ish) 4/4 sport - will I notice a big difference between that and the runabout ?
I'd be very interested to hear the opinions of anyone who owns one - or is there another model I should be considering ?

Thanks for your help - best wishes Steve

Welcome to TM Steve, and before long, the 4/4 Sport officionado's will be along with their thoughts.

Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum cheers

Nothing wrong with the 4/4. A great Car,

There is however, a beautiful Limited Edition Centenary Roadster 100 (N0. 027) lurking at Mole Valley Morgan in Surrey which would impress you.
Happy hunting. sherlock

I resemble that remark!

4/4 Sport has plenty of zip and a nimble chassis to boot.

less torque obviously than +4 but less ponderous and lighter steering.

sorry -no personal knowledge of Runabout

welcome Steve to TM

I was in the same boat a while back but decided on a well spec'd 4/4 rather than the sport. It has a spare wheel for starters which I prefer and a host of extras which are not available, at present, on the sport. You should be able to find one that's almost bespoke for you.

Not knocking the sport, just not my 'cup of tea'. It's your shout. Have a good look at all your options before you part with your money.

Cheers

Welcome to Talk Morgan Steve. smile

The 4/4 Sport is a very nice car and the best price point of the Classic range; however, some owners have been lured to spend a little more by the larger engine of the +4.

As a used vs new proposition, the 4/4 Sport (new) vs a preowned +4 makes for an more difficult choice. Equally, at this time of year and with 20% VAT looming, you may find some dealers willing to be a little more flexible on asking price if they have cars sitting in stock (so a new +4 may be less than the standard MSRP).

Driving both will make up your mind for you.

Welcome cheers

Nice quandary to have. Some good threads on here about the 4/ Sport and the gearing ratios. These seem to be the only bone of contention with some owners but I understand there is an after market work around.

That one caught my eye and I mentioned it in an earlier post. It's an unusual colour combination, and looks really good.
It's a bit of a hike to Scotland though in this weather!!!
