For those who feel their Duratec +4 does not quite cut the mustard - or those looking to build a BabyDoll evocation.... I just saw this on another website. 2lt Duratec Cosworth with light fly and clutch. Mated to an Elite Gearbox (google them). 280bhp Cosworth Duratec Cosworh engine and gearbox

Hmm , that would just about double the output!
It would make a very fierce competition car alright , but not sure about drivability. I suspect it might also be "rather loud" without some good silencing.

Probably not a straight forward job. Think Morgan create their own bell housing to mate the MX5 gearbox to the motor. That may not be compatible with this? Then possibly find prop shaft length may need altering as well.
Looks fun but as suggested, maybe not road-docile.

Would need good brakes too!
Also rear end suspension to get that power down.

The mx5 gearbox won't cope for one thing! But high level of torque should be only at the very high rev band which is not so harmful for a gearbox.

The five speed Mx5 gearbox seems to have an enviable reputation for strength, which is not shared by the six speeder. On a different tack I'm being sucked in towards the Plus 4 Club Racer upgrade......... I need a cunning plan to get it past MrsW..........
