I sometimes wonder if the obvious need that TM posters have to tell each other how wonderful driving a Morgan is, comes about because deep down they have doubts. I would have thought it was because it is wonderful driving a Morgan.

It certainly isnt rational. Of course it isn't. That's the whole feckin' point. Enjoyment isn't rational. The ability of humans to celebrate their very existence through the experience of sensations just for the hell of it is what sets us apart from automata. Let's face it, Howard. You are never ever going to get it. You're never going to understand how hacking down the M6 in atrocious visibility, steering with one hand whilst mopping up water leaks with the other can be a fun and pleasurable experience, and for that I honestly feel truly sorry for you.

I sometimes wonder if the obvious need that TM posters have to tell each other how wonderful driving a Morgan is, comes about because deep down they have doubts. They need to restate their beliefs. Bit like a Billy Graham revivalist meeting.
I mean " Drove down from Newcastle this morning in the P4SS in pouring rain with aeroscreens and no roof...enjoyed every mile and gave the Public at large a lot of fun.!!!!" smacks of self flagellation on the pilgrimage of the stations of the cross. It certainly isnt rational.
We'll never give up on your "conversion" Howard, where there's life there's hope . Camels and eyes of needles do spring to mind on occasion though it has to be said

So if you dare to like a car you actually bought you are not allowed to post that you enjoy it, over other makes of car that on paper or according to someone else that doesn't like that make of car.
Does that mean it's okay to deride cars that I don't have?
As you can see it's all very confusing.

But Howard, you’ve never owned one! Test drives and crowded roads are no use either, the fondness grows with time. Maybe you’ve just grown out of love with cars. As I age, I realise I don’t like some things which I used to and I don’t feel the need to pretend I do either. My list of dislikes is long and getting longer: Any sport without engines and all sports wear. Pubs. Airports. ( double dislike for airport pubs) Any current music. Any TV involving dancing, cooking, celebs. Ketchup Heathly food options. Most of the general public who enjoy the above. Doh! It’s just dawned on me, I’ve turned into a miserable sod!

Not miserable - just a rational re appraisal of priorities. Your list is slightly different from mine but the themes are consistent. Why should we spend time on stuff that does not inspire or create enjoyment?

Re-reading my comments this morning , they came over as critical whereas they were intended as a bit of a leg pull. For that I apologise. But you are right for sure about what you say above. Fun and pleasure. And you havent even had to use the birch twigs or the sackcloth! Mind you, I have been known to go sailing in February is a gale and with sleet. People are funny, arent they?

Howard as a fellow Yorkshireman and as someone who was educated by Jesuits (and survived !!!) I understand your torment and confusion.
I agree with Ewn I believe you have lost the joy in seat of the pants motoring..the pleasure of going on mad jaunts like my wet trip down from Newcastle just because I could.
I often do 100 mile bike rides to hurt myself a bit (the Jesuit influence !!) and feel great afterwards..indeed after writing this I will bike 70 miles to Humber Bridge ,stand on the top ,amd say a prayer for you !!!!
There will come a time when I am not fit enough to do these things so I savour every trip..it makes me feel ALIVE !!!
Howard..say three Hail Mary's and 12 Our Fathers and you will be absolved.!!!

Did I mention I enjoy my Morgan and I see it as a proper sports driving car.
Any body can drive a modern Porsche/Jag/Ferarri..little or no skill required...never see such a driver with a big smile on his/her face like you see with open topped sports car drivers with few driver aids.
I will add 3 Rosaries to your act of contrition !!!
Off to the Humber Bridge now.....may be some time...
