Used a bit of 2" Velcro with a couple of scraps to hold it in place..works well..cost?.............nuthin! Thought of clingfilm, but have yet to try it due to the success of the Velcro! Bored, cos the roads are salted, and though I dont mind gettin it wet(!), I think salt might be better on my chips,so I aint going out, hence sitting here thinking of useful ideas to impress and amaze..........

The first ones I got from Allon White- which were everflex- but by far the best ones are Dave W's mohair specials. They even come with an instruction sheet and are a really good bit of kit! Cheers, G

Once upon A time: These remind me of the leather gaiters that were used to enclose leaf springs on Rolls-Royce cars in the 1920's. I have seen many pictures of the springs totally enclosed and I think grease nipples to? but I was under the impression that a leaf spring gained its working function (like that bit) by having friction at the 2 ends, and wonder why some people advocate the lubrication of leaf springs, particularly Morgans. Maybe we could learn something from Henry and Charles? They certainly knew what they were about and 100 years later, their cars are here to prove it. Morgan are almost there, but will the springs make the course?

If you are doing nothing, how do you know when you are finished?

If the friction gets too high you end up with a frozen (seized) spring. Lubrication helps keep the rust at bay and potential seizing also. Don't need to use the spring for damping - they are separate . Cheers,
