Hi there...

I have just put down my deposit on a 110 years edition Plus 4 and now need to spec it out.
Now what I've noticed is that a Morgan can look very much like a old classic wedding day car or can look extremely lean, mean and contemporary.
I'm looking for the later and am wondering what will make it happen.
I'm thinking this so far:

Full bumper = old look
Front valence = contemporary

BRG = old
Sport blue = contemporary

Two tone colour = old

Wood dash = old
Body colour dash = contemporary

Little lights on the front wings = old

Badge bar = old

Black leather Moto lita = contemporary

Black spokes, black grill, black leather interior, black hood = contemporary

Chrome interior mirror = ?
Round exterior mirrors = ?

Anyway you probably get the point...
All these are as much questions as they are statements.

Does anyone have any opinions on how to spec out the car to look as lean, mean and now as it is possible for a Morgan to be...

Gloss black paint with black pack (no chrome or polished ally), Black leather interior, black mohair weather equipment carbon dash backing, no wing lights, no bumpers or overriders, black alloy wheels, no spare, no rack. Matt black racing roundels on the doors and boot. No strap.

Led headlamps

A mix of both styles?
Discrete modern or classic features in whatever mix you fancy.
A rollbar will add the sporty impression with roundels too.
Careful though....personally I would decide on modern as a base with a wooden dash and retro style gauges,easily detachable luggage rack, tonneau cover for better roof down driving, wire wheels.
Rather than spend on the bling items I would look to driving/performance enhancements as better value for money.
I would want to drive the car not polish and store it so the (to me) vanity extras are a no-go.
You will no doubt learn what extras to add after a period of ownership and these can be added as you wish. A windstopper is one such extra that might appeal.
Also think of your clothing.
Full flying jacket is a real warm unit if you like open top winter drives but can be bulky. It adds to the classic look too. Lighter weight wind/rain proof is a good idea
Take the time before finalising your spec to investigate.
Go to your local noggins to see cars and get a feel for the social side.
Remember too who your passenger will be!! Ask her for her input. VERY important to get her on board.

My only issue is the black paint...

I live in Geneva and 99% of cars are black or grey BMW, Audis and Mercs..

I need to find a colour

Milligoon are we talking the air intake and led like the ARP4.

Do we like the LED lights?

What does the tonneau add re driving experience?

At the beginning when driving a Morgan you look at the long bonnet, after you look only the road, the landscape and enjoy the feeling of driving, whatever the color and the extras of your car. After you can add extra.

Major options IMO: Front suspension (like SSL) and adjustable dampers. If available: aluminium radiator.

No matter how you spec it, the will be lovers and detractors so having bought the car ( with your heart? ) carry on in that vein.
Based on my own experience ( and depending where you drive ) I would keep away from the BRG, lovely though it is as I lost count of how many times I was nearly wiped out due to people not seeing me when turning out of little lanes due to merging with the background.

LED headlights so you can see better down the road, classic lights have broad scattered pattern. Those that drive on dark unlit roads will know what I mean.

The scoop on the side of the bonnet, so when you start fiddling in the engine compartment you have a good fresh air intake, certainly takes it away from the classic car look just like the ARP4.


I can fully appreciate you wishing to steer clear of the euro black white and 50 shades of grey palette.
