You are happy to live in the Homeland of Morgan! Here in Germany the large Insurances do not know a "Morgan" - it is not listet like VW, Jaguar etc. So the only chance is to use one of the 2 or 3 special insurance for collector's vehicles (Liebhaberfahrzeuge). That means expensive and maximal 10.000km/ year. I tried to extend the range of Km from 10.000 to 12.000Km. The answer was: More than 10.000Km means it is used as daily Driver and not as collector's vehicles, so you get no insurance cover.... We don't realise how lucky we are bm - it's the English Krankheit to complain about most things though .

This has to be one of the most frequently asked questions. As others have said, it depends a lot of your circumstances, but in my experience, the biggest factor is whether you are insuring as a daily driver or a second car. This point confused me for years until I worked out there are two types of "classic" insurance. - 1. Insuring your Morgan as a second car that is not your "daily driver". For this you must have already got a full insurance policy on another (non-classic) vehicle.
This can be very inexpensive but doesn't accrue any NCD and you must maintain your regular policy (it can be with any insurer). - 2. Insuring your Morgan on a regular policy. This may also be as a second car but it needn't be.
This is really no different to insuring any car accept that a specialist insurer will give you a bespoke "classic" policy. Gott & Wynn and Headley always get lots of recommendations on the forum but I assume most people have the second type of insurance as neither company has been anywhere near competitive for me. I have the first type and never paid more than £100 to insure my 4/4. I used to use Footman James but a few years ago switched to Heritage and they now also insure my tintop (Mazda 2). I imagine the owners of older, less valuable models are happier with the first type. Just my observations, happy to stand corrected. ~iw Same here Ian.

Whatever you do, don’t use a mainstream insurer. Most of them don’t understand what a Morgan is and few if any will offer agreed values. Always go for the specialists that have been previously mentioned. 100% Jays - I work with Insurers on a daily bases, anything out of the ordinary has them stumped...
Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

If you are risk averse go with the Morgan specialists - but if you don't mind and budget is a factor go for the best deal you can get.

Most breakdown insurers won't touch you if your car's over 15 years old.

I haven't found that to be the case. I have several cars insured with Classicline and European breakdown and recovery is included as standard in their policy. They're very competitive in my experience and also insure "modern classics"

The club used to have a deal with the RAC and I switched to Gott & Wynne's scheme when that went tits up. I only pay £170 for combined car and breakdown insurance so it's not seemed worth shopping around for alternatives.
