This morning, while setting up the radios for my 10:30 tour, a young lad staggered, on two sticks, into the MMC shop from the cafe area. He can't have been more than 7 or 8 years old. His name was Morgan and he had been named after our favourite car. He was with two guardians (who may have been grandparents) and lived in Malvern. But he had never visited the factory. Apparently, his parents had passed on a few years ago and as a treat his guardians had brought him to factory, just to see one or two cars and hopefully to get to sit in one, a surprise visit. Well, we couldn't leave it there, he was offered a tour which his elders thought he would only manage a part of with his difficulty walking. As we also found out, he was in remission from cancer, too. I only had a small tour group, so the three joined us and I'm very grateful to all the other tour participants for their patience with getting through parts of the factory. Throughout the whole tour this lad was very attentive, though I doubt he understood all I said, watching all the build activity going on. When he was occasionally having difficulty with steps &c. I did think he would be leaving the tour early - but no way, he was definitely in for the whole experience! Once we returned to the Visitor Centre, Martyn Webb found an M3W he could sit in and possibly another car too. Martyn also found some old car brochures plus a current hat with the Morgan logo to give to him. Despite all his difficulties, this lad was a rock and showed how lucky the rest of us are (despite some personal losses / problems). I am sure, should the opportunity arise, he will be a Morgan owner one day. (Off to clear the mist from my eyes, again!)

What a heartwarming tale Graham - what a privilege to have contributed to his very special day, Well done . Lets pray he goes on and gets his own one day. Some of these youngsters are absolute towers of strength and when you do meet one they take the legs out from under you every time.

With all the negative news in the press at the moment, that is nice to read a positive story. It is sometimes easy to forget that actually the world has more good people than bad. Good for you Graham and thanks for sharing.

Lovely G. I’ve had the privilege of taking similar people but perhaps not quite as young, around the factory and it really has been an experience.
One memory I cherish....no where the same as yours, was a French guy who was in his 90s whose family had brought him over to visit the UK and brought him to the factory as a treat as he’d been a classic fan all his life. I took them round....him in a wheelchair....and then sprung a surprise on him at the end of the tour....a trip out in the demo Plus 8. He gabbled on at me excitedly all the way in French and grabbed my knee which he never let go until we arrived back at the visitor centre. He was in tears when he got out.
I’ve got wonderful memories as my time as a tour guide....it looks as though you will too!
Jays Former Morgan owner. Gone but hopefully not forgotten!

Touching, nice to read.
Brave can be found in many ways.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
