I remember seeing a Transit van racing at Thruxton in the late 60's, though it was really a Tranny shell on an F1 chassis

I saw that one at Snetterton it had the GT40 engine it and sounded fabulous. I believe Ford produced about 3 performance Transits for PR over the years. Supervan

I'm not convinced that the world needs Transit vans that are any quicker than the standard ones....

They had a Transit going up the hill at the Fos a few years ago with all the patina roof rack rust orange light on the roof.The only tell tale were the wheels it went like stink and had fastest time of day up the hill till early afternoon.

The Waitrose, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Tesco and ASDA delivery vans do quite well around here servicing the 2nd home owners - it's like a race track here Friday evenings and Saturdays  Dartmouth and Salcombe are now outnumbered by these and our small village is approaching this sorry state rapidly, it rips the guts out of a place. I haven't worked out why they all wear those undersized small sausage roll type quilt jackets and mustard cords either  .
