Stewart, without wanting to be a bean counter, there is probably this difference between gloss and deepness. (I know, I just have to experience it myself). Gloss can look cheap if it looks like a mirror and blocks a full deep color away. Gloss, or better shine, as you probably mean it, can also be an expression of that certain something, a depth that can often only be achieved with the best natural wax.

I googled something. Mercedes uses the product CeramiClear from PPG, at no extra charge in Sindelfingen and Bremen.
By the way, a disadvantage is that if you have a scratch in this MB ceramic clearcoat, and I have two of them, you can never polish it out again. On the other hand, a scratch is less likely than without ceramic coating but if, the whole surface has to be repainted. But the advantages for a lazy everyday life are nevertheless larger.
With my beloved Morgan, I first have to see it on other Morgans before I could have it done... somehow the thought of ceramic paint on the Morgan feels too high-tech and synthetic... just a feeling.

It of course depends on the colour and whether it’s light or dark I was comparing ceramic coatings, both which I’ve seen on two mid blue non metallic Morgans and comparing them to what I’ve been able to achieve on my red Morgan and my current blue Morgan I’ve achived a ‘better’ depth of finish AND a glossier look in my opinion under artificial light scrutiny (non polarised light) but not without a lot of work Then there is a trade off between ‘show’ or high gloss finishing and longevity

When most people including me talk of swirl marks, they are just talking of very small scratches in the paint which only look like they are in swirl patterns because they are seen as they radiate around a bright spot light
It’s the bright light that catches the edges of the scratches and makes them appear to be in a swirl pattern but of course they aren’t
It’s a common misnomer that these are a result of washing or polishing in circular patterns
As Dean says real swirl patterns are only caused by rotary polishers when used incorrectly and allowed to stand still and either burn the paint or abrade in a circular fashion
To avoid putting scratches in paintwork, it is important to be absolutely maticulous in getting dust and grit off the paint and off any cloth or sponge prior to applying any pressure of any kind during the cleaning process
The main aids to this are
Running water (not too much pressure) Lots of carefully folded and properly cleaned and dry microfibre cloths which use static to lift dust Grid guards in buckets to prevent grit getting on cleaning mits Plenty of clean water if using buckets
Well written Stewart +1

I just posted this on the M&S forum but maybe this would be a good place to float it.
"Does anyone have any experience with the Dodo Juice Buff Daddy DAS-6 polisher?
Can you fit small pads to get into some of the more awkward curves on the Morgan?
What is the best compound to use on the Morgan paint finish?"
