Hello All,
Does anybody know where i might be able to find information about the technical differences between the standard Series 1 and the GTN other than the obvious cosmetic differences. Also, does anyone know what the price difference was between the two cars in 2004 when new ?
Any information on this elusive model would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

4.6 ltr Alpina engine Piano black dashboard and wood trim Carbon fibre hard top Black centre lock OZ wheels Faux brake ducts in front spoiler BMW Mauritius blue body over Titan Silver wings
One of the cars #8 or 9 I think was built with a wider body as per the S2 Aero

The GTN was a very limited edition model. I believe in the region of 10-11 were made.
It was essentially a series 1.5. It arrived at the end of the Series 1 production. The Series 2 was quite a big change to allow it to go to the US market with repositioning of the petrol tank, wider cockpit, new dash, new engine/box/brakes.

The existing 4.4L BMW engine (286bhp) was replaced with a rare Alpina 4.6L engine (330bhp and more racy cams making it even more fun). I think the gearbox may have also been changed with it.
I believe they were delivered with a removable hard top as well as the soft top. These are rare and individually matched to the car.
A general list of the changes include - Using the standard 4.4 BMW V8 but enlarging it to 4619cc (which developed 330bhp) - Black centre lock OZ wheels running Yoko 048 semi slick tyres - Uprated suspension - Side exit sports exhausts - Carbon fibre hardtop - Carbon fibre interior trim - Revised lower splitter with cooling ducts for the front brakes. - Standard colour scheme of Blue and Silver
They tend to keep a higher value than the S1/S2. Shooter and a few other members on the forum have one so if they pop up it might be best to see if they can spend some time helping you.
If you are just looking to get into Aero ownership then the S2-4 can be had for less money and offer the same (or improved depending on your taste) experience. I looked at one when I was first buying but ended up finding a rare S2 which gave me more cockpit space etc.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

The GTN has neither uprated suspension or brakes. I believe it was advertised as such in the early press releases but that didn’t make it as far as production.
The series 2 is hugely different with modifications to the suspension, the chassis, steering, engine, body and wheels

The GTN price when new was £72,500. Don't know the price of the S1 at the time. However, in the original EVO article at launch it mentioned a £17,000 price hike putting a stock S1 at around £55,500.
One of the biggest differences I have noticed between the GTN and the other models is it seems to just drive really nicely and feel better assembled. I was told that the 11 cars were built separately to all other Aero's but don't know if that is accurate as it was said the GT was built separately as well but I saw them all on the normal run through the factory.
GTN #1 has the wide body as far as I'm aware.
Chassis numbers of the cars are: G0273 UK Dealer, RTCC RHD G0274 Factory Car which originally had reg V8GTN RHD G0275 I know this car, it is LHD G0276 Factory car VX53 KTJ-Top Gear featured car RHD G0277 Belgian Dealer, Garage Albert LHD G0278 Italian Dealer, Borghi Auto LHD G0284 German Dealer, Morgan Park LHD G0285 German Dealer, Flaving LHD G0289 UK Dealer, Libra Motive RHD G0291 Reserved don't know if LHD or RHD G0292 UK Dealer, Rutter RHD
So 5 definite RHD cars and 5 definite LHD plus one unknown
In the paperwork I have with the car it is called Morgan Aero 8 GTN/Cup Sport Replica.
Differences from standard car listed as:
4.6 litre V8 producing approx. 330 bhp Tuned sports exhaust, side-exit Carbon-fibre hard top Carbon-fibre dashboard and trim inserts Le Mans racecar colour scheme Black perforated leather upholstery Centre-locking race wheels (not all were black, some were silver, maybe factory had spare silvers knocking around).
Aero 8 GTN. #10
