I'm not convinced that the world needs Transit vans that are any quicker than the standard ones.... Yes, you're right. It used to be bizarre and somewhat grotesque to build a car like this when the normal transits had a maximum speed of 80 or 90 km/h. Today it's a nightmare when sprinters drive 180 km/h on the German Autobahn, that's really scary.

Because its fashionable Richard................ Obviously I've considered yellow cords, not because they are fashionable but because they are yellow........ MrsW has vetoed that plan. When we used to stay in Salcombe we kept a tally of smoky pink cords, smoky pink high quality knitted jumpers, with a bonus point for having one draped over your shoulders. One night in the hotel two 'Old Men' came down within five minutes of each other in said attire, each with a jumper draped over their shoulders..........

I like MrsW, and you of course please don't wear those Dave - fashionable is an unknown to me. The Sailing racing number jackets are the visitor identifier, you know crass expensive and tasteless but keeps the shops going through the winter.

The only "logical" extension of this madness is for Mercedes to use the mechanics of their F1 car in a Sprinter van and have their World Champion drive it........

If the internet is to be believed Guy Martin still holds down a full time job at his local Scania dealer as a vehicle fitter and does all this other stuff in his spare time. Nice story if it is true.

Em Spotted that. There seemed not to be any concern about where the van had pulled up even though the egress had been a bit speedy.

Yep, true, I went to the live interview he did in Sheffield earlier this year (with Suzy Perry) top bloke, even managed to get a quick chat later one to one, he was grasping a big mug of Yorkshire tea and still had mucky fingernails and oily hands

Guy Martin always reminds me of a modern day Fred Dibnah.
