I know there have been previous threads on the removal of the exhaust baffles and whether there are any improvements or not. Wondered what the conclusion was? Is there a benefit to performance/engine health or the converse downside to performance/engine health?

Would be interested to know?

Think you should count on them being exceedingly noisy!

The recommendation seems to be to remove or drill holes in the front baffle to increase air flow and increase sound but not too much. My question is where is the front baffle located and how do you gain access to it? I can see the rear baffle and the second one in.

A 1 inch hole cutter with a long extension, about 12 inches.
Drill slowly.
Remove the silencer and drill from the front.
John.

I agree with The Austrian's comment but only drilled the front baffle 38mm. The noise is subjectively not much louder at steady revs but certainly is when pulling.
I needed 2 x 300mm extensions. The steel is very hard, use plenty of cutting lube spray, drill very slowly & dont pull out to check progress. One high quality cutter will do both sides or 2 cheaper ones.

Tim,

Thank you for the reply. I assume you separate the exhaust where the clamp is and drill from the front through the silencer?

I would say the sound difference is slightly better, the performance is noticeably better, and the header pipes stay much cooler.

Go with Magnaflow!

After many miles and enjoyable cruises I’m very satisfied and have had many compliments on the awesome Magnaflow sound! Many of top custom car builders use Magnaflows and now I know why. Absolutely no exhaust restriction and the originals are on the shelf if I ever decide to sell.

Magnaflow the name says it all!
