I may have been a bit premature three months ago trading in a Freelander for a Jaguar S-type given the wintry conditions we are now experiencing and the abominable weather forecast for this weekend. frown

However, I've bought some snow socks for the Jag and hope they'll be an insurance against getting stuck in the white stuff. snow

Anybody had any experience using them? confused2

brought some for me wife's car, they arrived after the snow disappeared so no (or should I say SNOW) chance to use them yet. Hope it will not happen in Reading :snowcool:

addition - mind you, having just checked MetCheck, Saturday looks like a bad day for snow gloomy

WELL - Had a chance to fit and use our snow-socks today.

Quick and easy to fit (they are a tight fit - but that is what you want), and easier to take off.

My wife, who usually manages to spin the wheels on anything but bone dry surfaces (and hates the sensation, and becomes nervous by it), drove around our roads which are covered in 2 -3 inches of snow and returned with a smile on her face. A real result. thumbs

Sue was keen to practice putting them on and off. She managed well.

They come with a pair of plastic gloves which are long enough to cover cuffs of coats etc. Without them coats can pick up lots of much from the wheel arches.

Your wife might to have a practice run

I've been using winter tyres here in Belgium for the first time and I have to admit I was very sceptical - but now I have used them in some fairly heavy duty snow I'm completely convinced they work and are worth it - pretty expensive but as snow seems to be getting more frequent I think it makes sense. They are on a Lexus RX400h. My partner is from Germany and it's a requirement there and some other countries I think.

regards,

John

Lots of Snow Sock users around Beaconsfield including all of the British Gas service vans. sherlock

All seem to be on the Front Wheels only assuming all Front Wheel Drivers pulling them around the corners.

Would you need them on all 4 wheels on a Rear Wheel Drive car? idea

Only one set of Spike Tyres seen/heard so far on a Landy Disco (Blue Wall Rings on all 4 wheels).

I purchased a new sledge on Friday to carry home heavy bags of Salt Granuals. Good idea? / Bad idea!! The resistance to the 20cm deep snow nearly killed me over the 1 mile journey, partly uphill, so the little 4x4 was outed today among the sea of 'Giants' with SWMBO giving me driving lessons at every turn swmbo .
