I enquired recently about MMC Stage 1 for the EU4 and as far as i’m aware it doesn’t exist yet...

Slightly OT, but aside from less HP and a higher price, what is the difference between the US and EU4 models?
With so many excellent, independent S&S and Harley performance shops in the world (particularly the US), can they not also tune the M3W (Stage 2) provided the ECU is unrestricted? Looking at S&S's own website, https://www.sscycle.com/search/?category=1%7CPerformance%20Kits, its clear they're enthusiastic supporters of 'personalization' and some of these components look awfully familiar!

Red Leader has just recently had the same shocks fitted and I’m sure he would be happy to give his views on how he has found them. In my view the Spax adjustable are a very worthwhile upgrade over the standard shocks. However, it's worth pointing out my originals had 24,000 miles on them so probably needed changing anyway. With the new shocks the front wheels bounce less, the ride is more compliant and the steering slightly more precise. I find I can go along my favourite back road about 10mph faster than before Also another +1 for the MMC Stage 1. When fitted the standard ECU was fine and I only upgraded it when I had the Krazy Horse Stage 2 cams fitted.

Being told again today that an ECU reflash 'at the factory' is required for the Stage 1. Doesn't compute. I guess its a 'warranty CYA' thing....

I am due to have MMC Stage 1 exhausts fitted (at a dealership, not the factory) and there has been no mention of an ECU reflash. There have been several TM threads on Stage 1/2/3 upgrades and I do not recall anyone talking about this being required for Stage 1 as the ECU should adjust automatically.

I fitted the MMC Stage 1 kit myself, no ECU remap was required.

Good luck finding someone who does protune. I called a bunch of places and no luck other than a few pretty far off.

"I'm sure the factory pipes are fine, but some of the setups I've heard on M3Ws are frankly ludicrous. One came through Stroud last year, I have no idea who it was, but is was ear-splittingly loud, I'm surprised it didn't break any shop windows. From the comments people were making I don't think the locals were impressed" naughty 3 wheelers!

None of the Harley or S&S dealers want to touch the 3 wheeler here in Denver They say they will and to bring it in, then they go oh its a Morgan (well yes I told you) and decline.

Here are the two responses I received from MMC directly and from my dealer (bottom up). One would think there is a definitive answer. I don't mind doing a re-flash per se, but prefer to save that $ for Stage 2 if and when I go that route:
MMC: "Yes – Thank you. We confirm that i you fit the Stage 1 Kit without the ECU Flash and no faults occur then that will be fine. If faults do occur, then please contact your local Morgan Dealer to arrange further assistance. Many thanks"
Me: "Rob, thanks for the quick reply. What has me puzzled is that no one I’ve spoken to that has done the Stage 1 in the past, and no one else currently installing it has had to reflash. Is this a US only emissions issue?"
MMC: "If you are intending to fit a Stage 1 Kit to your 2017 M3W, you should have a Stage 1 Re-Flash on the ECU. If you use the car without the New Flash, it may develop fault codes of bad sites left and bad sites right.
The ECU will need to be sent back here to the MMC Factory to do this – Please arrange this with your local Morgan Dealer."
Dealer: "Absolutely needs a re-flash…. The fuel mapping needs extra air flow more then stock so parameters need to be changed"
Hope this helps others......Mike
