Well the new oil is in but I have not had a chance to test the car yet. Top Tip though, when you are going to thread back in the upper plug the one that has the Allen if you have the nvh kit take a rag and stuff it in the void that is just below the plug! It will keep you from dropping your plug into the NVH bracket which could take quite a while to dislodge and I bet you can guess how I know!

I just changed mine - actually, helped the dealer do it - along with the initial service. Added the Redline 80W250. Now if it would just stop raining so I could take it for a ride... Old oil was blacker/dirtier than I would have expected, with only 1200 miles on it. Before the change, the db app on my phone registered 81db on the passenger seat while running 55mph in 4th down a smooth road. I thought I'd try to see if I could actually measure the noise level, along with the subjective sense of did it make a difference or not. Stay tuned...

Nice day today, but chilly, so I took it out for a spin. Similar weather to my "before" test. Initial sense is that something certainly changed. It's quieter for sure, or at least not "screaming" as much. Warmed up, and same road, it's running 79db to 80db using the same phone and same app, compared to a fairly consistent 81db before. I would NOT claim that this is scientific, but to my ears, it definitely seems to have changed the bb noise a bit toward the better.

Now, is this due to the Redline oil, just the oil change, or what, hard to say. But based on a sample size of one, I'd recommend Redline 80W250 Synthetic. Other oils may work as well - it would be useful, but a real pain, to back-to-back check various oils - but the Redline seems to have made a positive difference both subjectively as well as objectively (within the limits of my phone's sound meter app).

Well not silencing my noise completely, the new oil seems to make it less obnoxious. I'm just sort of mentally hypnotizing myself into imagining I have the straight cut Gears of a blower Bentley

I agree, something changed, and it's a bit less obnoxious, which is good!

Some say they fill oil thru the allen bolt hole, others say they fill oil thru the breather plastic cap hole.... what is proper method?

Dealer filled mine through the allen bolt fill plug until oil was up to the level of the plug (running back out).

The Bevel box should be filled up to the level plug (Allen) with the car level, not through the breather. The box is designed to have specific oil level, over filling will not improve things and will probably increase the chances of seal leaks.

The manual states 300ml for the bevel box fill. Most plastic oil containers have a ml scale on the side, making it easy to measure out. Where you add the oil is academic as long as you add this amount.
