Do you have some pictures from the trimwork? BM, not too sure what you mean ? I made the 'box' from 6mm hardwood plywood The leather was then cut from patterns and glued direct to the ply except the top which was layered over some thin foam The only 'professional' bit was the diagonal stitching which an upholsterer ran up on the top which I marked out on that piece of leather before making the Lid

A great job Jon. Did consider similar for mine but have enough of a job finding seat belt socket when two up, especially in the winter with jackets on. Also  has a habit of placing her arm on top of tunnel just when I need to change gear. With console the consequences may be tempting divorce proceedings!
