Thanks Rog - that is comprehensive and makes sense. Is the cam belt based upon experience and a previous failure or just super cautious ?.

I don't think the extensive list of spares is really needed if you prepare your M3W before you depart. I may live to regret that statement but the chances are that if you do have a problem then the spares you have will be the wrong ones to fix it at the side of the road. Some things are known problems and can be reduced before departure. Check your cam belt and change it if it looks less than 100%, check the rectifier wires are all good, replace the standard fuel pump with a better item, change the crimped fuel pipe clamps for screw type ones. Other unpredictable problems such as such as punctures have to be catered for. Failing all that, good breakdown and recovery cover is essential and a credit card always helps. Once you have the M3W reliability sorted you need to consider your packing and luggage, less is definitely better, ask Mark and Hetty....... . We find Rohan clothing that packs small and can be washed and dried quickly is ideal. You really don't need as much stuff as you may think, travel light.

On the other hand, travelling heavy is perfectly manageable too! We got six 30 litre bags on the back of our car on this year’s Grindelwald trip. Merry Christmas, all!🎄🎄🎄

Chris, missed you yesterday at Bicester Heritage! Is the plan to meet up at the Eureka Park Premier Inn before heading to Grindelwald?
