Hi Horror,

Years of love, cherishment (is that a word?), fun, broken nails, amusement etc etc. I love my cars, present and past, and it will be a sad day when I can no longer fettle and drive.

To answer your question my present car, a 70th Anniversary 4/4 is a little unusual and the fold down screen and hybrid hood were standard for this model, not aftermarket fitted. You won't see many like this! And, the rack is MMC design and fitted.

The thread started in a somewhat light hearted manner but being serious, sometimes, for me, item design and quality are sometimes compromised. But i can appreciate small number runs of speciall editions produce their own cost/design problems

But do I love my daily driver instead.....you must be joking

Regards

Geof

I think this is pretty much a standard feature of owning a traditional Morgan - which is why I couldn't honestly recommend them to anyone who isn't prepared to get stuck in with the spanners now and again.

I'm sure you already know this, but I would advise always to address the underlying causes rather than the symptoms.

I do like the 75th model apart from the sticker down the bonnet. I should have bought one!
But with the 70th Anniversary cars I really think Morgan tried a lot harder with a lot of design messages from the past.

BHM took the sticker off Bumble at my request.

Amazingly there was no shadow, but apparently it came off in tiny pieces over a long period!

Sorry I meant the 70th edition not the 75 year edition

I worry if mine stops rattling as it means something has fallen off! Vaseline on bonnet tapes etc. although a doctor friend swears by KY Jelly (I hope he wears rubber gloves when applying) - but hey - each to their own

Geof,
My apologies, I didn’t read your initial post as being light hearted.
As others have said you are not alone in your quest.

Hi Horror,

Absolutely no apology needed or offence taken. Really, to be honest I've got a really dry sense of humour which often doesn't travel.

Whilst writing...an update:-
With the weather being so dull I have renewed all the bits of anti rattle rubber and stuff I fitted over the years with my car almost like new. Except, that is, for the hood locking mechanism.

I have now leant there were a couple of iterations of the catch locking slider about the time my car was built and I may have an old set. So, I will obtain a couple of replacements in the near future and hopefully can tick that off the list. But for now I will continue to put my modified rubber door stops on the two pegs!

Hope this helps anyone.

Regards

Geof

Whilst embracing the light hearted theme......
I do remember driving my first Mog home. I actually stopped and got out to inspect the back thinking something in the suspension had broken! It was a 1986 4 seater with the old type shocks. I'd asked the previous owner how it felt at 70 to 80. He said " it's like being in your own, personal volcano". How right he was. Then I remember the first storm (hood up)....rain coming in over the windscreen at anything over 50mph. Made me laugh. So began a long loving relationship curing this rattle, stopping that leak, never ending, fantastic. Watching and listening to passengers on their first trip...the shock, brilliant. Solved a few back problems as people's core muscles took over their proper job. Bump coming, sit away from the backrest! Oh, and the time in the rain when a Beemer came the other way as we were both entering a big puddle...whooosh a waterfall came up under offside sidescreen and drenched me. Then there was the leak from under the dash soaking my knees. Better than iq puzzles working out the cures.
It's almost a disappointment now in my 2014 model, hardly anything needed "adjustment" from new!
Nick
