I see we may well have some closet Allegro fans lurking! Must be time to "come out" and illustrate what a few of my "preserved BL relics" are. So for Allegro detractors and fans alike -

For the anoraks out there - they are all Series 3 "facelifts" models from the last year of production. The red one has a 998cc engine and is a base model. The blue one is a 1.3HL mid range and the Beige is a 1.7HLS - with a twin carb engine!

Any offers of straight-jackets and drug treatments considered.

Au revoir? Well as they say, never say never! I’ve had good times with both my Morgans, met and made friends with a bunch of great guys, enjoyed hugely my time at the factory and enjoyed my time on TM. I’ll always be keeping an eye on all things Morgan and particularly what comes out of the factory, post next years Geneva. Interesting times 🤓.

I’ve always had a hankering after both a TR3 and 4 and I was hunting down a suitable 3 when I made my first visit to Morgan, test drove a 4/4 and ended up buying it. So I have to do it! Wen and I want to get involved in some classic regularity rallies and the Roadster with its vulnerable sump was never going to cope.
Having been exposed to Steve Ts Healey on our Wild Mogs Isle of Man jaunt 🙄 that has tempted me too and I’ve been looking at 100/6 and 3000 Mk 1s as well. Very tempting but I don’t want a car I have to be precious about and I know I would with a Healey so it’s going to be a TR.
Just been test driving a very nice TR4 with Surrey Top and mildly tuned and a Stage 2 tuned early TR3. The latter was huge fun and very tempting but not sure about how it would be enclosed under a hood and side screens...a lot more claustrophobic than a Morgan. Nice on a sunny day. The TR4 was very civilised and fun in a different way.
One more trip next week to look at some more and then I think I’ll be taking the plunge!

Allegro? It’s not a convertible! I’m not a classic car snob and I think it’s great that cars that were thought of as pretty mundane in their time are being restored and collected. It is automotive history after all.

Ps. If I’ve come across as being a bit curmudgeonly, so to speak, recently....I do apologise. I have no excuse....other than I am like a pig in doodah up here in my new life by the side of the Kent Estuary.....which as I look out whilst typing this, is basking in the most glorious autumn light🤓. I suspect that my values in life are changing....or I’m getting older!

That surrey top is a great thing, for passengers anyway. Very civilised and enjoyable. I always fancied a tr2. I tried to buy one as my first car but the chap wouldn't sell it to me (I was 17). So ever since then I've wanted one.
The tr3 would be brilliant Jays. Do it!

Convertible? Allegro? Well Yes we can do that-

Couldn't be more unlike a TR or any other sports car to drive - this is very much NOT a sporting car! Not mine I would like to stress but automotive history all the same. Made/converted by Crayford back in 1974. ( currently in my care awaiting delivery back to its owner 350 miles away - luckily he is picking it up - I hope!)

I was lent a nearly new Allegro estate by a Morgan agent .It had a quartic steering wheel and the faux chrome strip on the dashboard fell off as I was driving it home.
