Having had my Morgan for a few months now, I realise that its just an excuse to buy silly hats....there is quite a collection building up now, from the threadbare wooly sort,to the sheepskin lumberjack hat;some have a peak to keep out the sun, and sometimes I feel the need to wear the peaked baseball cap under the sheepskin lumberjack hat(no peak on that).
Recently, however, I thought that I had cracked it by the purchase from Tesco of a canvas peaked hat with earflaps and furry lining- trouble is that it pulls down a bit too far and knocks my specs, so maybe a bit of tesco bogroll inside it to raise it a bit;anyway, the search continues....

nothing matters very much, and hardly anything matters at all.

Very perceptive egginb. My first headgear, aged about five was a grey knitted balaclava worn with a duffle coat. Who says hoodies are new eh? Then aged 11 it was a school cap - Just William style - it was bottle green with two pale blue segments, and a white rose on the front. After that I only dabbled with a hat once aged 19, when I made myself a Jackie Stewart style corderoy hat in blue. It wasn't up to much. Over 30 years passed with nothing more than a bobble hat or two knitted by my mother, until at the onset of fifty, I found myself with a waterproof flat cap, a waterproof brimmed hat and a summer basket weave brimmed hat. Although MrsW wet herself at the sight of these initially, she can control her mirth much better now.
Then the Morgan came along, and as you have found, a peak is essential when the sun gets low. So now I have three baseball caps, and sometimes a woollen hat over the top when it's cold, but so far I don't have one with ear muffs.

I usually use my wooly bobble hat.
BUT!!!
I have what I call my "Darth Vader" hat that i bought for winter golf. Black Sympatec fleece lined peaked hat with pull down sides that go all the way round the back makint is a bit like dart's helmet but without the facemask!. My wife thinks I need a face mask for disguyise when wearing it though!
If i can rustle up a photo...

I love the resigned look on the models in that ad. You can imagine the phonecall from their agent and the joy and anticipation of paid work, then....
