What may have happened with the wheels is he asked for gold........
A friend of mine had his Mx5 wheels powder coated. They should have been gunmetal (which I dislike anyway), but there must have been some blue left in the mix, because they came out ghastly, a sort of blue tinted grey.

I could live with Maroon and the V8 quite comfortably but those wheels would be sprayed silver. I'll bet the owner enjoys it all, a finely presented car and genius putting a V8 in, they must have lots of spondoolics  .

It has become an epidemic down here during the last 20 years funnily enough  I was a k missing Reg Urban Dictionary: spondoolicks https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=spondoolicksCockney/Yiddish colloquial term for money, particularly cash acquired in a profitable exchange.
