Out for a quick spin yesterday and got an under dash explosion a pipe came off the washers,on closer inspection it was a brown liquid. I removed the washer bottle only to find the inside decidedly nasty with a mushroom growing in it. I never use the washers the water must have been stagnant for quite a few years. It had blocked the pipe and the pressure caused it to detach itself. All done cleaned and dried.

S1 and S2 are known for the windscreen washer pipes hardening and falling off. I had it on mine as well. Sadly I had failed to test them prior to sending it for the MOT! Fail.

Mind you mine did not have the optional funghi. That's a new one.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Aerotaff,
once had that on a tintop, despite a very detailed clean and flush through, it seemed to re-occur every 6 months or so (we assumed because we couldn't kill off all the microscopic bacteria) so keep an eye on it

When i bought it in 2012 i did a billy bulshit and polished the ally in the engine bay unfortunately i caught the washer pipe on the small mop head i was using and it rapped itself around my black and decker, just picture the scene i had to replace the pipe then and except for Mot its the last time it was used.I use rain x on the screen as we drive always top down the washer tends to creep over the screen and you get a wet lap.Plus with the heat under the dash i dont rally trust the pipes as they go so soft. I replaced the pipes on my first Aero as they also detached. Hey Ho its a Morgan love it........

Had this on Tango a couple of years ago.Cause damage to the speedometer and needed to be changed. That ended up expensive, since it happened during service at a dealer.Dash needed to be removed to dry out all electrical connections.

A few have suffered the same with the new solid state dashboards Rudolf it is a shame they still use such inferior black tubing.

Some people have dropped the dashboard out and fitted a flexible shield to cover the electronics parts. There are problems with MMC not being able to supply spare parts for these now at the moment so best to protect what you have..

Em be careful I read an article that said neat old water in car windscreen washer bottles is one of the biggest carriers of legenires disease, so don't spray it on your face....Em this is not a wind up.

I confess I was massively sceptical about this but it's right.

Em, get some silicon tubing to replace yours. It is softer, more pliable and lasts MUCH longer. It is what is on my car. If you get replacement pvc then try getting one with anti-bacterial additives. I remember buying it for the cigar rolling machines in the factory, We were having a problem with pseudomonas bacteria and it helped.
