After a sub-standard scone experience yesterday, we had a drive in the unexpected sunshine to take Mrs E to the Orchard Tea Garden in Grantchester, where we know the scones will be fresh and the cream will be Rodda's.

About 45 miles today, stopping for sausage and chips in Aberaeron. Was waved at by pedestrians a couple of times - something I’m still getting used to!

I’ve had the car about 5 weeks and covered about 800 miles. In it's previous 7 years, the car had done only about 7300...

Also now getting some misty gauges, and the battery is more reluctant to start the car. I filled up with petrol earlier today, and everything was a bit quiet when I turned the key, apart from the fan heater. Turned that off, and the car started, which was nice. All part of the fun, eh?

Jon buy a trickle charger & get the battery tested, sounds like it is on the way out.

Not exactly driven but started the engine for the first time in 4 weeks after rebuilding the top end with gas flowed head porting and new fast road cams.

First time I've done valve timing on a twin cam but all went well and amazingly she started almost immediately after only about 2 seconds of cranking.

When fitting new cams, it's recommended that you don't let it tick over but maintain about 2500 rpm for 20 minutes to make sure the top end gets good oil flow during initial break in.

20 minutes sitting still with a steady throttle foot seems like an eternity.

Anyway, no leaks so I'll wait for it to go cold and check everything over. Then try out another cold start and see how it ticks over.

Beats doing jigsaw puzzles.

Done. Collect my MORGAN three weeks ago, travelling a week in Britain for five days, she 's at home since a little bit more than a week. As a german I enjoy the british way of playing the toys. Today: may be it would be fine. may be sunny, may be cold, but no rain. A little bot sunny, right, it was cold, wrong - it rains. In the british way: I was out - hod down. We enjoy it!
