It might well be a series one and a half,I have seen a modification where the air filter was moved to under the front cowl maybe the previous owner has re routed the air filter to be around the oil filter giving you access to both. If you fitted some nice fastenings and colour matched it might be ok otherwise its a trip to vintage sheet metal to get a patch and louvre grafted on. I bet it sounds glorious with those exhausts, If the price is right and a reasonable offer accepted without seeing the car it looks pretty good to me. I prefer this car to the many insurance cats that have surfaced over the last 10 yrs.

Having a look at the photos this has some odd parts about it.
2004/5 plate is at the end of S1 or near start of S2 phase ? It has the small plastic covers around the front indicators of later S2. It has two windscreen wipers which are normally early S1 (2000) It has bolted alloys not centrelocks which were on a few late S1 and after market alloys which don't look too bad. It appears to have the earlier S1 sized brakes. S1 door handles S1 boot lid
The panel is a total fail.
It appears to be an early car registered late? I wonder if its a factory prototype that escaped into the wild The brakes are Series 2 They won't retro fit to the Series 1 suspension Simon @ SiFab.co.uk

This car was for sale last year if I recall, touted as a rare development car. From the looks of it there are various S2 parts that were obviously being tested on an S1 base, the brakes are interesting especially as the rear has two callipers which is not normal for an S1.
Front brakes look nice, wouldn't mind those on my S1..
