Hi, Does anyone have any experience of Centurion Warranties?
I had a 6 month warranty from Williams Autos when I bought my Morgan in June & I have just had a call from Centurion asking me if I want to renew it.

Is it worth it?

Regards, David.

I have no personal experience but someone on here maybe Lord Sward has first hand knowledge and the takeaway message was they are not worth a light when push comes to shove.

David,
Could you give your model & year as it would help other owners to give you an indication of any repairs commonly required

How £much do Centurion want to renew ?

With any warranty you must remember they only cover manufacturing and material failure. It sounds obvious, but it trips a lot of people up. Serviceable items, one subject to wear and tear won't be covered.

Another thing to watch for is the servicing intervals. Most aftermarket warranties in my experience demand servicing every 6 months which catches a lot of people out, especially now that cars can go 2 years/20,000 miles.

Finally, don't forget to check the excess per claim, the total claim limit and see if diagnostics are included (unlikely).

Aside from that, they are a good safety net for those on a fixed monthly budget.

Thanks the lot for the reply Lord Sward I thought it was you but with 6,000 on here it's a struggle at times remembering.

That is really useful information and I'm sure David especially will appreciate it.

What possible justification could a company have to put in the 6 month service clause (other than to invalidate claims) on most modern cars.

My MB ML has a ton of electronic parts that cost an arm and a leg. If I (in good faith) took out this policy and the suspension controller failed then I would be rejected as I had only kept to the manufacturers annual service regime?

Am I understanding this correctly?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I think that's exactly what these companies are relying on and that's why Lord Sward has highlighted it. It seems damn awful to me but hey that's business.

No decent warranty company will insist on 6 month service intervals.

Warranties are there for the unexpected failures that could cost the owner dearly and a warranty company can only insist, quite rightly, that the car has been serviced according to manufacturer recommended intervals.

There are a number of decent companies out there, so a bit of research would be a valuable investment. My business provides the extended warranty programme for many manufacturers, so feel free to name companies here and I'll happily give you my opinion on them.

Interestingly, I spoke to Charles Morgan a few years ago about a Morgan branded extended warranty. He just couldn't understand what it was and kept saying Morgan's don't fail. He left the company soon after.....

It seems it's Centurion Warranties that the OP was being offered an extension to.

Modern cars wih a dual mass flywheel and clutch are therefore not covered £3k not out the question and lots of V8 cars eat one in 50,000 miles.
