Hi all - I'm looking for a scruffy but awesome road going 50's/60's plus 4 for light competition use - hill climbs and timed rallies, rather than full race - if anyone hears of a suitable car, i'd be grateful for the tip - thanks Nick

aren't we all? But the prices have gone through the roof even for restoration projects as they are eligible for FIA historic racing. If you don't mind a sixties car with a modern engine body New Elms have this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Morgan-2-0-Twin-Ca...=item43a3f4536bJohn

ps duplicated in the for sale/wanted thread section As John ( Sprinty) says, you'lll be extremely lucky to find one full stop and, if it is any sort of shape then be prepared to get the wallet out. The prices really are strong for anything that moves ( or even doesn't) and the good cars are fetching silly money ( IMHO anyway) A good example would be the car which RTCC sold last year but there are many others in the same bracket A related thought is there were, in fact, only 101 genuine Supersports built ( and one of those was Eric White's four seater) so, even if you don't need or want matching numbers, it pays to be a bit circumspect with some of the so-called 'Supersports' which are advertised. They may have had some of the obvious attributes added eg bonnet scoop but there really is more to it than that- not least some of the things which were done ( by Jack Brabham Motors) to the Lawrencetune engine in the genuine articles G

or there is this at Allon White: http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/dealersites/allon-white-sports-cars-ltd/used/3136but it will cost a lot to prep it properly for hillclimbs or rallies and get it sorted properly and if you bend the radiator on a flat rad that alone is £3000.........

The Allon White flatrad really is a resto project.I had to call in there last Jan/Feb to pick up a steering column cowl which they had covered for me and the car was there then. They had a couple of enquiries by phone while I was actually there and they went to great lenghts to stress just how much work it needed G

mmm - fiat engine/box, ford axle, grp body, rack and pinion steering, adjustable rear suspension, allow wheels - not quite as it left Malvern is it lol! thanks all for comments - I dont know if anyone really does apy the inflated asking prices for usable non concours cars, the few reported auctions prices are lower. +4 is my preferenace, but may settle for a fulvia, tr3 or an elan. I seem to be about 3 years late for a bargain though! - Hi all - I'm looking for a scruffy but awesome road going 50's/60's plus 4 for light competition use - hill climbs and timed rallies, rather than full race - if anyone hears of a suitable car, i'd be grateful for the tip - thanks Nick

I really must keep a closer eye on what Tim has in stock. Did you see the '71 4/4 4 seater last year? Went to Paris area. As usual I was too late, although the sale was on and off several times, I almost had a chance at it... Cheers,
