I have seen pictures of many automobiles in Ralph Lauren's collection. He is truly living the one of the automotive dreams I have!

It doesn't look like they go very far, and in that respect I don't see the point. Rich people eh?

Nobpody is more OCD about well turned out cars than me ( if they are then they really DO have a problem!) but I'm with Dave on this- cars are made to drive and are seen at their best when moving at speed. I always think a ggod example of that is Chris Williams' Napier- Bentley. At rest, it can look a bit tired and scruffy ( no offence meant) but when it takes off- - - - !!

It's true that I like a minter Dave, but the thought of 'plinthing' any car sends a shiver down my spine. Forget the Ferrari's - rich list people do that instead of collecting beer mats. But that Morgan deserves better. Do a no-expenses spared rebulid by all means, but then get it on the road. Even dry weather use only would be better than being preserved in aspic. But eventually they will all be sold off, and some will be used.
If I had a dream garage of a dozen cars, they would all be taxed & tested and on the button. Otherwise there's just no point.

There are plenty of similar cars tucked away in collections that literally never get photographed, let alone driven. As far as I know all his cars are kept ready to be driven and are driven, albeit perhaps not extensively. Pretty sure a fair few aren't restored either.

That said, where is the cut off point for how much a car should be driven? Even Jay Leno doesn't drive his cars that much. However, I'd rather a petrolhead like him or Lauren bought the cars and displayed them than them going to a secret bunker in Switzerland or bought for 'investment' purposes, which is horrific.
