Talk Morgan and Morgan Car News were proud to facilitate help facilitate the interviews of the 3 directors of Morgan Motor Company as well as the Head of Design, Matt Humphries.

Matt's interview is now live and can be reached via this link on MCN .

For those who listen to podcasts on their iPods, the interview can be found - for free - in the podcast section of the iTunes store, using the keywords: Maximise Potential.

I had a listen to this at lunchtime today and enjoyed it. It was interesting to hear just how quick Matt established himself and the difference he thinks he's made at Morgan. His is quite an inspirational story.

I have only heard Matt's and one other; the other 2 are still being edited but I understand they are very interesting - and cover distinctly different aspects of the workings of MMC.

Glad you both enjoyed the first one. smile

When I was at the RCA the floor above the School of Ceramics was Automotive Design. Here some amazing weird and wonderful concepts were drawn and subsequent models made. I know many of the the more gifted graduates were lucky enough to be scooped up by the likes of mercedes/porsche etc to work as part of their respective design teams.
Matts story is unique because he was fortunate (and yes, lets not forget lucky) enough to find a CEO that had the nerve, and foresight, in what is a massively traditional company, to give him a once in a lifetime opportunity.
To Matts credit he grabbed this chance with both hands and as a result has made a really unique contribution to MMC's future.

The interview is super and embodies the best of British ---a golden opportunity with the right man in place----Well done Matt and Charles --keep up the good work. cheers

Just got round to listening to this and it's really super. thumbs I think the interviewer did a good job, even if I would have liked to have had a bit more personal info from Matt, such as why he did not choose architecture like his father? etc, etc.

Overall though, very interesting and I look forward to hearing the next three interviews. coffee

This interview from 2011 answered my earlier question on why MMC are excluded from the North American markets for something as simple as an air bag.

The Operations Drector claims that a basic air bag system costs a million Euros as a starter price.

There are several similar homologation costs for each model.

How can small independent manufacturers hope to survive faced with these
costs?

With multiple failures like Rover, SAAB, TVR and numerous others in the past Maybe we underestimate what a miracle Morgans survival is in 2013.
