Ordered mine just before Xmas from MGOC and it arrived in a couple of days. Impressed with how quick it was dealt with given all the problems many (retailers) were having at the time thumbs

Have not put it to use yet but looks fit for purpose,

Paul

No Frank, I am firmly wedded to my Taffie and she wouldn't tolerate another!!!!!( not to mention what "She who must always be listened to" might have to say)

Cheers!

I won't let myself be convinced until someone actually uses this MG tool and reports back but I love the look of Dave's -for the hex nut. What I'm unsure about is the amount of torque needed to tighten the spinner. My old fashioned way is to tighten as much as I can ,then put the wheel back on the ground, observe a spoke for reference and clout the spinner hard: if if the spoke remains in position then the spinner is tight. What do you all think? Meabh.

It doesn't seem natural to tighten without a final clout, but I've tested the hex tool & breaker bar and a final clout with the hammer doesn't move it, so I'm totally converted. I don't carry it in the car though, it's garage use only.
It undo's with a nice firm pull, which again doen't seem natural. The only disadvantage with the hex tool is that it's VERY expensive and you don't get the bar with it.
Is it worth it? absolutely.

Dave, Okay then, I'm warming to it. If anyone else has an opinion, do chip in please. Meabh.

I have the MGOC USA Spanner and have used mine to test loosen and tighten a spinner again and it was fine. It has to be 100% better than 'clouting' with a mallet in terms of achieving a constant torque on all 4 spinners and no risk of hitting the wing or catching spokes. coffee

MGOC also offer a similar tool for Hex 'nuts' use as well.

A friend is trying out their Wooden Spinner Tool (Propeller) because its cheaper but I am not sure if you still have to clout it or whether its just a spoke protector? call

Meabh, you don't have to tighten the spinners overly. They tighten themselves in normal driving. The only wheel I have seen come off was on a freshly restored car where the hubs were fitted to the wrong side of the car.

BTW: I use a homemade device similar to the MG tool.

A Great Tip to follow, Frank (like DaveW's replacing one King Pin set at a time.) Avoids this mix up happening. thumbs

I must confess, I've got the whole collection here.
I acquired one of the brass MWS tools ( for hex nuts) as a give away from a mate who was changing to eared spinners. Then, in a fit of economic madness, I got one of Uncle Phil Ledgerwood's tools. On the latter, I agree with Dave W. It is an excellent, quality bit of kit but it ain't cheap and you have to supply your own breaker bar. I used it a fair bit and it always worked fine.

I've recently changed over to eared spinners and so went for the MG Tool
Again, this seems fine- I've taken the wheels off/ replaced them a few times with it and it works really well
